Fueling the Sierra Charging Network
The Sierra Charging Network is a regional initiative to expand publicly accessible electric vehicle (EV) charging across the Central Sierra. Eligible counties include Amador, Alpine, Calaveras, Inyo, Mariposa, Mono, Nevada, and Tuolumne.
The Sierra Charging Network aims to build a reliable, community-informed EV charging network that supports both residents and visitors while advancing regional economic development. The program provides no-cost site assessments and technical guidance to potential host locations, helping determine site readiness, available power, charger type, and installation feasibility. Sites selected for funding will work directly with EV Range, the project’s implementation partner, to complete engineering, design, permitting, and installation. By expanding clean transportation infrastructure in rural areas often overlooked in statewide planning, the Sierra Charging Network strengthens local economies, supports tourism, improves mobility, and helps the Sierra region prepare for California’s continued transition toward zero-emission transportation. Funded through a $4 million California Energy Commission grant awarded to Momentum and supported by CSEDD, the project helps reduce rural charging gaps, strengthen travel corridors, and create new opportunities for businesses and property owners to host EV charging infrastructure.

Help Shape the Future of EV Charging in the Sierra Region
We are partnering with Keep Sierra Green to help distribute a regional survey on employer EV readiness. While this survey is separate from the Sierra Charging Network project, it aligns with our shared goal of improving EV infrastructure and support across the Sierra region.
This short survey asks employers about their current needs, barriers, and interest in EV charging. The combined input will help inform future planning efforts, identify priority areas for investment, and support additional funding opportunities that could expand EV infrastructure beyond the current project. Individual responses will remain confidential and only aggregated insights will be shared.
If you are a business or employer in the Sierra region, we encourage you to share your perspective and help shape the next phase of regional EV infrastructure planning.
